Key West Slow Season

Every year during the slow season in Key West you’ll see a few restaurants close down for various reasons.

It could be for yearly staff breaks or vacations, time off to recoup and regroup, construction and maintenance issues, dodging hurricane season, or just because it is the slowest time of the year.

I have seen people ask about which places do this and thought I would write this post.

Here is a list of those who are shutting down that we are aware of. Many establishments will remain open, so you needn’t worry too much.

Temporary Closings of Restaurants for Slow Season

Bistro 245 renovations started months back, and there is probably still some to go until they reopen.

Smokin’ Tuna shut down in May, has changed location, and is undergoing renovations. They will share news on their socials when they have their grand reopening.

Bob’s on Margaret according to the Google overlords and a Key West Locals forum, Bob’s on Margaret is closed. Google lists the restaurant as temporarily closed, but I could find no mention on their website or social media. We will have to wait and listen for when they reopen.

Frenchie’s Cafe I saw a comment that they may be closing for a break. I am unable to verify via their social page or website. The comment said, “Frenchies cafe will be closed next week (9/9?) til the middle of Oct”.

While Many Are Taking Breaks a Lot Remain Open
