Key West Bar Card

Key West is where the sidewalk ends; iguanas, chickens, and six-toed cats are among your new friends, and there’s a bar within stumbling distance of wherever you’re standing. The Key West Bar Card is a $20 card that gets you buy one, get one free drinks at 17 of those bars, once per day at each.

I’ve carried one for years; we buy them as stocking stuffers every Christmas, and that’s me in the video below swapping out for the new year’s card. Here’s how it works and whether the $20 comes back.

What is the Key West Bar Card?

If you drink on vacation, this card pays you back. Here’s how it works. If you have your Bar Card, you can get 2-4-1 drinks at seventeen different establishments once a day.

The Key West Bar Card is one of the best values in Key West!

For Example – You are down at Two Friends to grab a bite to eat or catch some live music. Ask one of the bartenders for a drink of your choice (outside of happy hour). It could be a bloody mary, a margarita, a beer, or wine. Show your Key West Bar Card, and you will get a second drink for free (or up to $10 off) after you finish the first.

How to Use Your Key West Bar Card

The best part about the bar card is that you can use it more than once. You can use your card once daily at each participating location, and it doesn’t expire until the end of the year. Add up the possibilities on a four-day trip. It’s a damn good deal; mine has paid for itself every year.

Example 2 – You have a few bar-card drinks at Dive Bar Shirt Club and walk over to Pepe’s. You can use your bar card again and try that tasty Fresh Squeezed Margarita, or whatever you fancy. You will still get two drinks for the price of 1 because of your bar card. It’s the gift that keeps on giving. You could fashion your personal Key West Bar Hopping Crawl.

Seventeen bars, one free drink at each, every single day. Do that math against a $20 card. Remember, you can’t drink all day if you don’t start in the morning! This card isn’t only for those who visit. You will see plenty of locals who have them as well.

Bar Card Rules

Your card is only for you. You can’t share your deal with your wife, significant other, girlfriend, or friends. They have to buy their own. The card says, “For the Individual Cardholder Only, it is valid for a buy 1, get one free drink and a maximum of up to $10 off.” The cards are not transferable, and there are a few blackout dates possible (this is up to the individual location), so take notice. Read the Bar Card FAQ’s for further information. Don’t use them during happy hour because you are already getting a deal. Use your card before or after.

Where to Buy the Key West Bar Card

The bar card can be ordered online and shipped to you or picked up while in town. The cost for your very own personal happy hour maker is $20. Currently, 17 participating locations will accept the Key West Bar Card in 2026.

The card is $20. At each bar on the list, you get buy one, get one free on drinks, once per day, with the free drink covered up to $10; order a $14 cocktail, and you pay the $4 difference. Break-even is two rounds. Three or more stops in a day and it pays. One bar all night, or beer prices, and it doesn’t.

Enjoy Responsibly

You can make every hour a happy hour while on vacation with your Key West Bar Card. Make the most of your time in The Conch Republic. Check out our detailed Happy Hour Guide for inspiration.

If the bar card seems a good fit, and if you visit some of those bars anyway, plan to grab one for your stay. Take it easy out there, remember there is no sad hour, and stay hydrated.

When leaving the island, you could give or donate your bar card to someone else so they can take advantage if you don’t plan on returning.

Also, remember to tip those hard-working people who are taking care of you. Please tip appropriately; if you are using your card, you will be tipping based on two drinks.

I hope this helps with your planning.

If you have friends coming down or people asking you about or wanting to know what the Key West Bar Card is, share this post with them.
